Safety Inspections

A safety inspection should be carried out regularly and should include all areas of the workplace, including low hazard areas such as offices.

Spotting hazards and recording so on inspections is good practice and will be proactively actioned to limit the potential for an accident.

An external inspection from us can help your business spot unseen hazards through complacency or a biased inspection from an employee.

Safety Audit

Safety Audits focus on processes used rather than the action used. This means they go a lot more in depth than an inspection. An audit will involve checks with in management plans, safety policies, overall safety culture with in a work place.

Internal and external audits are key to a businesses overall safety system. They spot systematic errors that may have gone un noticed and have the potential to cause an accident.

LOLER Thorough Examination

HASAWA 1974 state that it is your legal duty as an employer to maintain safe and suitable lifting equipment. Therefore it has been made statutory for lifting equipment and their accessories to have a thorough examination at intervals depending on their intended use. This should be carried out by:-

  • An external contractor not employed by the company
  • Who does not regularly maintain the equipment being examined
  • With the knowledge and experience to spot defects

We have experts who have years of experience and competency in identifying defects for various lifting equipment and accessories. We can offer this at extremely competitive rates. Upon completion of the examination the inspector will issue a certificate for 1 year/6 months depending on its use which will satisfy insurers, hirers and all other relevant interested parties.

Risk Assessments and Method Statements

Risk Assessments

Used to measure risk and eliminating hazards where possible. They should be ‘Suitable and sufficient’ to cover any person affected by the employers undertakings. Along with H&S Policies, Risk Assessments should be carried out regardless of employees but must be recorded if 5 or more employees. They come in variety of form covering all types of work from Fire, Environmental, Confined Space Regs to Control of Vibrations at Work Regs and everything in between.

An example of a poor health and safety case study can be found here. A simple inspection and risk assessment could have prevented this from progressively ending in a terrible HSE report and prosecution.

Method Statements

Seen as a last resort in H&S. Method Statements and safe systems of work are used if the risk has been minimised as much as possible but a hazard still remains. These go hand in hand with Risk Assessments and like Risk Assessments, these should be conducted by a competent person.

Specific Written Policy

Let us put you together a professionally designed Health and Safety Policy that meets all requirements as set out by HASAWA. This will be designed and tailored around your workplace with your own unique aims and objectives.
